Lux Vitis is the latest born among Tenuta Luce’s wines. An exclusive wine, born from a vineyard of Cabernet Sauvignon planted in Montalcino in 2004. Thanks to the careful observation of Nature that characterises all our work, we discovered that those vines produced grapes of extraordinary quality. Hence the idea of creating this wine, in very limited quantities. A distinctive interpretation of the terroir of Montalcino.

It took us the experience acquired over many years of careful observation, respectful of Nature, to give life to Lux Vitis.

Everything began in a Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard planted in Montalcino in 2004 on mixed sandy soil. Over the years we observed these vines as they grew, and were surprised by the exceptional quality of their grapes, so much so we decided to make an exclusive wine, capable of interpreting the Tenuta Luce terroir through Cabernet Sauvignon.

To these grapes, we added a small quantity of Sangiovese to enrich the wine’s character. The long ageing in new French oak barrels for 24 months further enhanced the elegance of this new wine by Tenuta Luce.

This was back in 2015, and we named this wine Lux Vitis as a homage to the light that brings life to all things.

Vintage 2016: Winter 2016 was mild with beautiful sunny days. The spring rains contributed to a homogeneous development of the leaf canopy and, beginning in the middle of June and throughout the month of July, a gradual rise in temperatures accompanied the grapevines development, flowering and fruit set phases in the best of conditions. August was dry without excessively high daytime temperatures, interspersed with a few beneficial rain showers, providing optimal conditions for a perfect ripening of the grapes. September was very sunny and featured a considerable range of temperatures, which allowed us to harvest perfectly ripe and healthy grapes. An imposing wine of an almost impenetrable dark red colour and a complex nose that ranges from the scents of red fruits to spiced and toasted aromas. In the mouth the wine manifests all its potency, revealing great elegance, a perfect balance between alcohol, acidity and structure, and a beautiful tannic structure that leads to an incredibly aromatic and persistent finish.
